Alfreton Freemasons make donation to Jerry Green Dog Rescue
During the lockdown of Covid 19 it has been impossible to meet and raise money, but through the ingenious efforts of our Charity Steward Trevor Harrison who organised a monthly virtual Football Card, we as a lodge have managed to raise money to make many monthly donations to many small charities around the local area, one of which was to the Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre at Blidworth.
This was gratefully received by the center manager Martina Martin who advised that it would be put to good use in the care of the dogs currently in kennels. She advised that fund raising as been very difficult during lockdown due to dog shows and activities not taking place, along with rehoming activities being severely restricted. She was pleased that they had been selected and would note the donation on their webpage along with a photograph of the enlarged cheque.

Freemasonry’s impact
In light of COVID-19 pandemic, Freemasons across England and Wales have increased their charitable giving to respond to the needs of their communities. The Masonic Charitable Foundation and United Grand Lodge of England have supported Freemasonry in its charitable response, through two core initiatives: the Regional Communications Groups and the Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community issuing 607 grants totaling £3.2m.
These donations made by Vulcan Lodge are in addition to this charitable giving!
