Masons do not collect money from the public – all their charity giving comes from their own pockets. In fact, after the National Lottery, Freemasons are one of the largest supporters of non-masonic charities in the UK.
When recently there was an appeal for funds to help feed starving children in East Africa the Masonic Charitable Foundation immediately gave £100,000 to Plan International, to help them provide food packages, water purification and hygiene kits. Mansfield Community First Responders dedicate their free time to carry out the role as community first responders. First responders work alongside the ambulance service to provide potentially lifesaving help attending code red situations which could be anything from a cardiac arrest to simply comforting and supporting the patient and their family.
Community first responders are real lifesavers, for patients experiencing cardiac arrest every second counts. For every minute that passes without defibrillation a person’s chances of survival can decrease by up to 10%.
