Martyn heads Back to Oxfordshire
One of the great aspects of freemasonry, and of our lodge in particular, is the dynamic and diverse natures of its members. We have brothers, who’s mother lodges are from Scotland, Durham, West Midlands and Oxfordshire.
Our lodge mentor, W.Bro Martyn Prior is pictured here back in Oxfordshire supporting the Witney Carnival, and the Annual Buttercross Lodge PM’s Dinner organised by W.Bro. John Gorton.
At the Witney Carnival, there where seventeen Oxfordshire Freemasons and three Lady Masons marked on a hot sunny day parading through Witney as part of the carnival procession.
We hear that Everyone who joined the parade thoroughly enjoyed themselves and all received a very good reception from the crowds lining the streets.
Through history, parading through the streets was a common practice for Freemasons, however, this was first time in a very, very long time that Freemasons have paraded through the streets in Witney.
Maybe one day we will do a parade in Alfreton, to demonstrate the immense pride one has at being a Freemason.
Over recent years Vulcan Lodge has extended fraternal ties, with reciprocated visits from respective lodges over a number of provinces, supporting the brethren of the lodge, but also making, building and strengthening friendships.
It is tremendous fun!
